There is everything you would hope for: indoor and outdoor bars (the latter of which can be enjoyed from within the pool), a lounge and cigar bar, and the service is friendly and helpful. The Tranquility spa offers a wide range of treatments, including local and African variations, but is a light, calm, cool refuge from the buzz of the rest of the resort.
As far as the game reserve is concerned, there are dawn, afternoon and sunset drives (as well as horseback and quad-back explorations) to track down the Big Five. The 10,000 hectare reserve lacks features and, during the drought at least, feels barren – guests are able to spot animals from afar rather than search for them. The lions, too, are kept in a separate enclosure, which detracts from a natural feel but does all but guarantee sightings.
